Horse Riding

If horse riding in the Scottish Borders countryside is on your list of wishes during your stay with us, then we have the ultimate guide below.

The Scottish Borders is famous for its’ long history with horses and common ridings, dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. Take in some of the historic routes on horseback at one of our recommended riding centres.

You can also meet many of our own horses right here on the farm, and we are always happy to have some helping hands when it’s time to feed, groom and muck out!

Whether you want an individual school-based lesson, or a morning spent hacking around the beautiful countryside, these recommended riding centres have everything on offer for horse riding in the Scottish Borders, and all are just a short drive from Kelso.

Nenthorn– just a 5 minute drive from Kelso.

Kimmerston– near The Cheviot Hills in Northumberland. Some breathtaking riding routes about 30 minutes from Kelso.

Ian Stark Equestrian Centre– BHS approved and about 25 minutes from Kersmains/Kelso.
